What CAIR is Really About (The Council on American-Islamic Relations)
Only in America can a group with an ulterior agenda of institutionalized discrimination against religious minorities and the elimination of one of the most basic rights, the freedom of conscience, get away with calling itself a “civil rights” organization. CAIR no doubt appreciates the instant prestige that comes from riding the coattails of an American movement that was originally concerned with the full integration of minorities, but, in truth, assimilation and equal rights are not what this “civil rights” group has in mind. For decades, Muslims have been assimilating into the American mainstream and taking to heart liberal Western values that are antithetical to 7th century Islam. More importantly, by developing an American identity, these Muslims unwittingly undermine CAIR’s long-term goal of Islam’s eventual dominance in the United States. The organization’s immediate strategy, therefore, is to disassociate Muslim consciousness from the American fabric. It does this by sewing isolated incidents of grievance into an artificial theme of oppression against Muslims in order to arouse disenfranchisement. As Islamic identity begins to assert itself, CAIR hopes Muslims will coalesce into a disaffected political bloc that is unified toward its own group interests. In short, CAIR is a fifth column organization that uses American values to ultimately defeat America. The rights that it ostensibly demands for Muslims in this country are the very rights that are denied non-Muslims in Islamic countries, and the group’s leaders have absolutely no shame in this hypocrisy, because of their belief in the supremacy of Islam. According to Islam, Allah intends for Muslims to rule over other religions, both socially and politically. In 1998, CAIR founder, Omar Ahmad, put it this way, "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth" Of course, CAIR now realizes that Americans are quite averse to hearing that their Constitution won’t be making the transition to one nation under Allah, so the organization is no longer candid about its ultimate objective of Sharia (Islamic law). However, Americans really don’t have to guess about this. If CAIR didn’t want Sharia, then it would simply come out and say so instead of whispering otherwise behind closed doors. The organization would also vigorously protest the application of Sharia in Muslim countries, since this restricts the very religious freedom that CAIR employs in its own cause. Instead, CAIR actively promotes discrimination against non-Muslims under Islamic law. A fatwa that was advertised in 2006 on CAIR’s website (ironically in the name of tolerance) ominously warns religious minorities under Islam that “they are not allowed to go against the mainstream of [Islamic] society.” The same fatwa also addresses the practice of killing apostates from Islam, but leaves open the question of whether this is right or wrong. CAIR does not vocalize opposition to violence against non-Muslims unless there is an obvious public relations benefit in doing so. In fact, the organization’s priorities, which very rarely extend beyond the interests of Muslims, offer remarkable insight into the Islamic religion. CAIR appears to have little concern for the hundreds of people murdered in the name of Islam each week, declining even to acknowledge the killings, much less denounce them. In fact, the greatest hate crime on American soil, the mass murder of 3,000 innocent Americans explicitly in the name of Islam, is almost always mentioned by CAIR only within the context of how Muslims in the U.S. have been “unfairly affected" by other Americans. In other words, the organization actually stands September 11th on its head, representing it as an event in which Muslims are victimized by non-Muslim Americans! The blind spot that CAIR has for Islamic terror leads the group to condemn Americans for taking reasonable steps to defend themselves from the religious sociopaths who are continuously plotting death and demise. But CAIR never blames the terrorists for making such precautions necessary. Criticism is reserved only for non-Muslims, as the organization attempts to drive a wedge between Muslim Americans and their own country. CAIR's insists on shirking the sort of responsibility for Islamic terror that is necessary to ending it, which is hardly atypical of the Muslim community as a whole. While other religions seek to make the world a better place for everyone, Islam is essentially an end unto itself, with the interests of Muslims taking sole priority - even over the very lives of others. CAIR refuses to denounce Islamic terrorist groups by name, no matter how bloody their acts. But they are always quick to denounce the slightest inconvenience or offense against Muslims, even if it is of an extremely trivial nature compared with what Muslims are doing to others. Much of CAIR's funding comes from the same radical elements that support Islamic terror, and the group appears reluctant to offend them. Several of its own members have been convicted on terror-related charges, and the organization famously impedes security programs designed to catch terrorists. The group does not appear to have much sympathy for infidels who aren’t quite as eager to meet their maker. Occasionally CAIR will put on a bit of window-dressing, such as its notorious “Fatwa against Terror,” which fell as flat with critics as it did with terrorists (Islamic terror increased by 260% in the 18 months following the fatwa). The organization also plays mitigating word games on the few rare occasions that it actually does address specific (usually high-profile) incidents of terror. When three Baptist medical missionaries were gunned down at their hospital in Yemen, for example, CAIR implied that they had it coming. When four other Americans were brutally murdered and burned in Fallujah, CAIR condemned the mutilation of the bodies, but not the actual murder! When pressed, CAIR’s leadership often pretends not to understand “what the terrorists are thinking,” even though the terrorists themselves have been quite explicit about their religious motives. Islamic terrorists rarely admit to killing innocent people. They say instead that they are engaging in Jihad against infidels, which is not only permitted in Islam, but mandated. Islamic terror is a product of Islam and anger, and CAIR is dedicated toward promoting both. By publicizing obscure incidents and exaggerating others, the organization creates the impression that Islam is under attack by Americans. This distortion fuels the passions that often find an outlet through violence. CAIR is a dangerous and deceptive organization that shamelessly manifests the very worst qualities of Islam, including boundless self-conceit and a rampant disregard for the humanity of others. The organization’s ultimate goal is the imposition of Islamic law in America and the crushing of the very civil liberties and values that it currently exploits to bring this about. Make no mistake. If CAIR wins, America loses.
