Like his many, many other claims, this one is false as well.  Sutter is no more sincere about his "Hate Watch" blog than he is about his other schemes to exploit people with disabilities or victims of rape and psychological trauma.  In fact, he actively tries to spread ill feelings toward Muslims and has even advocated violence.

There is an adage that you can tell a lot about a person by how they act when they think no one is looking.  Sutter has felt quite comfortable expressing his true feelings through the many e-mail aliases that he uses to censor opposing viewpoints from the customers of SonicWall and Secure Computing, by accusing certain websites (such as this one) of being hateful, violent or racist.

It turns out, however, that Sutter himself is many of the things that he accuses others of being, at least during those times when he feels it safe to speak candidly.  In an 11/3/07 e-mail message to one of us, for example, Sutter refers to Jews and Americans as “fat pigs.”

Now, pause for a moment and consider the irony.  Sutter is a grossly overweight man with questionable hygiene who sits at home all day refusing to work.  His censorship operations (and poor eating habits) are funded by the money that his wife, Nancy, brings home from her job.  Typing on the computer is Sutter’s only break from putting food in his mouth and sitting on the toilet.

Being called a pig by a person like this, who is close to 500 pounds, chooses to be unemployed, and sends a woman out to work for him day-after-day is… well, let’s just say there’s no reason for anyone to take this excuse for a man seriously.

But what really caught our eye was a 10/27/07 e-mail in which Sutter advocates shooting Muslims and bombing mosques:

“We need a good hacker, who will destroy all the pro-muslim internet  site, sending virus inside... We need some ex-soldiers who can teach us how to make bombs and  detonate them when we want... We need some snippers who can kill extremistes Imam when they come out  of mosques... We can put bomb outside mosques... We can burn Islamic book store, with cocktail molotov... We can put bombs in the street ( our streets ) in Arabic  neibourghood... We can shoot islamist when they make demonstration in the streets”

My how charming.

We did not immediately recognize Sutter's alias (Theirry from Switzerland) and promptly sent back a candid reply of our own.  The next day, we notified the FBI and one other organization, and subsequently discovered that Sutter was behind the threat to kill Muslims.  (From this, we were able to discover Sutter's other aliases).

After he realized that we were not on board with his "plans" for domestic terror, however, Sutter claimed that he had a change of heart and didn’t want to hurt Muslims.  When we asked why he had sent the earlier e-mail, Sutter responded (still posing as "Theirry"): 

"I was just drunk, and wrote a stupid mail.... It never append to you that you drink too much and you say stupid things ????”

(Well, no.  It doesn’t matter how much we drink, because bigotry and violence aren’t at the core of our soul.)

Through Sutter's incognito e-mail, we can also discover more things about him.  For example, the man who claims (here and here) that he lost “three good friends” on 9/11 (more fiction) often spouts conspiracy theory and refers to Americans as the “real terrorists.”

Sometimes Sutter e-mails the same anti-Jihad sites that he tries to block and pretends to be a hateful, irrational Muslim writer.  As a “Muslim,” he has advocated beheading, slavery and sleeping with underage girls: 

"If being able to give birth is not a proof to be married, what is the age from which you suggest that women can be married?"

"The girl get mature long before the male, sometimes up to 10 years, so make the difference"

Putting aside the "ewww" factor for a moment (on his blog, Sutter once raised the possibility that there is an allegation in his own past of sexual misconduct with a minor), the only possible reason for representing Muslims in this fashion would be to deepen resentment toward them, yet Jim Sutter does this even as he publicly pretends to be an opponent of the very hatred that he spreads.

In fact, Sutter has a history of harassment and libel against both African-American and Muslim-owned businesses.

His anti-hate crusade is no more genuine than the rest of him.

[UPDATE (1/20/08)] It's interesting that of all the things said on this site about him, the only thing that Jim Sutter has objected to is the allegation that he uses the alias of "Thierry from Switzerland" (the pseudonym of the terrorism solicitor).  We have long pointed out that Sutter sends e-mail under other assumed names, but he has never denied it until now.  Apparently he has a lot of (misplaced) faith in his system.

For the record, Sutter now says that he never sends e-mail except under his real name.  He also says that the mail header of an e-mail is a reliable method of determining the author.  Although we are grateful to him for making this a matter of public record, we have strong reason to believe that he would probably not say the same things under oath, where there are tangible consequences for telling lies.

Sutter believes that if he just erases the most obvious evidence, then he can get away with accusing others of lying about him.  His ironically-named "Just the Facts" biographical profile has gone through so many operations that it's almost been completely gutted, but even as each new revision brings him closer to what others have been saying about him, he still insists that they are the ones telling lies. 

Just as he removed pictures of the fraudulent combat medals that he was claiming after getting caught, we also see that the bogus "Reverend" has now removed the Yahoo Groups message in which he attempted to exploit the 9/11 tragedy for personal gain shortly after we exposed his reprehensible behavior.  Perhaps he will soon accuse us of "telling lies" about him, even he furiously tries to cover lies with more lies.

Jim Sutter is a fraud.  He has no shame, because he has no conscience.  He will try to get away with whatever he can to fool whoever is gullible enough to believe him.
